DAY 00 14 Nov Singapore – London
We leave Changi Airport this evening for an overnight flight to London on Singapore Airlines!
DAY 01 15 Nov London
Arriving in the morning we go straight into a full day panoramic tour of the City of London. We’ll see the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and St Paul’s Cathedral. We’ll walk down the Mall to Buckingham Palace, and then visit the Tower of London. In the evening we’ll check into our hotel the Travelodge at Ealing Broadway.
DAY 02 16 Nov London (Cambridge)
We’re off to Cambridge via Epping Forest and Thaxted. We’ll be walking through woods and visiting a typical English village with thatched roof cottages and Elizabethan period buildings before arriving in Cambridge where we’ll get a chance to explore the town and some of the university colleges. Today we’ll also get a chance to try a typical Sunday roast dinner on our way back.
DAY 03 17 Nov London
This morning we’ll walk round St Paul’s Cathedral and cross the Millennium Bridge on our way to the Globe Theatre where we have a full day theatre workshop as well as a tour of the Globe theatre. We’ll also get the chance to visit the Shakespeare and Elizabethan England exhibition. After the Globe we’ll visit the Tate Modern before we go on to Westminster Abbey for evensong.
DAY 04 18 Nov London
Today the TDP students begin their first day at Sir John Lawes School. Literature students will start their day with a tour of Westminster Abbey followed by a guided tour of Tate Britain. In the afternoon Literature students will have a Charles Dickens Walking Tour ending off at the Dickens House Museum. There’s also a Creative Writing Workshop for Literature students. TDP and Literature students will meet up for a fish and chips dinner after which everyone will watch the first theatre performance – “War Horse”.
DAY 05 19 Nov London
The TDP spends their second day at Sir John Lawes School and 11 literature students begin their immersion at Gumley House Convent School. The other 11 literature students have an opportunity to attend a conference organised by the European Parliament for British A level students on Democracy in the UK and Europe. In the evening both groups will meet up for our second theatre performance at the Sam Wanamaker Theatre – “Tis a Pity She’s a Whore”
DAY 06 20 Nov London
Today the TDP group will visit the Royal Observatory in Greenwich for workshops while the Literature group who were at the EU Parliment Conference yesterday spends their day at Gumley House Convent School. Those who were at the Conference yesterday get their chance to sit in on classes at Gumley today. In the evening everyone will meet up for the third theatre production – “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime”
DAY 07 21 Nov London
TDP students will visit Bletchley Park for workshops and Literature students are at their third and final day at Gumley House Convent School as a complete comtingent of 22. In the afternoon Literature students will visit the Victoria & Albert Museum and if there’s time, the Natural History Museum. In the evening the TDP and Literature students will meet for a guided tour of the British Museum
DAY 08 22 Nov London
This morning we have a tour of Brixton followed by an afternoon at the National Gallery where we also get to visit Trafalgar Square. Over dinner at Brick Lane the SAJC Alumni studying in London will be spending time with us.
DAY 09 23 Nov London – Singapore
We check out of the hotel this morning but it’s not the end of our visit to London. Our last day takes us to the Imperial War Museum for a guided tour. In the afternoon if there’s time it South Kensington before we leave for Heathrow and our return flight to Singapore.
DAY 10 24 Nov Singapore
Arrive in Singapore this afternoon.
